That’s when they came to Metro Screenworks.

The Problem: Finding the Right Material for "Mosquito Bags"

Sarasota County had an idea: create “mosquito bags” that could be placed in water to attract and trap mosquito larvae before they could develop into biting adults. But they needed the right material—something durable, breathable, and effective at containing the larvae while still allowing water flow.

They reached out to Metro Screenworks for a solution.

The Solution: Custom Prototypes and Collaboration

Working closely with Sarasota County officials, including Natalie (featured in their recent video), we provided several prototype materials for testing. Through trial and refinement, we helped them identify the perfect screen fabric to meet their needs.

The result? A successful mosquito bag design that Sarasota County has now put into use, ordering hundreds to start.

In their newly released video, Sarasota County highlights the development of “mosquito bags” – an inventive method designed to capture and manage mosquito populations. Throughout the testing process, Metro Screenworks worked closely with Sarasota County officials, including Natalie, to refine the design. We provided multiple prototypes, fine-tuning the materials and construction to ensure optimal effectiveness. Ultimately, Sarasota County ordered hundreds of these bags to begin large-scale implementation.
